- European Court of Auditors
The European Court of Auditors is a collective body consisting of one representative of each member state. They are appointed by the Councila after consultation of the European Parliament for a renewable term of three years. The Court is organized in five different chambers to which the representatives are allocated. They deal with the different areas of expenditure and revenue as well as a horizontal chamber for coordination issues. The Court drafts and adopts reports on the general EU budget as well as the EU investment funds. It also prepares draft opinions for adoption by the Court. In other words, it carries out audits through which it assesses the spending of the EU funds and other financial actions.
